Guest Post Opportunities on RonnieMcNutt.com

Do you have professional experience, lived experience or a well-researched perspective on mental health? We would like to hear your ideas. We welcome articles from freelance writers, bloggers, mental health professionals, veterans and peer-support volunteers, as well as from content writers and agencies who write on behalf of a client or organization. Whether you have a practical guide, an evidence-based explainer or a carefully told personal story, send it our way.

What Can You Write About?

We are interested in articles on the following topics:

Mental Health & Suicide Prevention

Educational explainers on depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, risk factors, protective factors and how to seek help.

Veteran Life & PTSD

Military-to-civilian transition, combat and non-combat PTSD, VA benefits and care, and support for veterans and their families.

Grief & Suicide Loss

Support for people bereaved by suicide, coping with loss, and how to help a grieving friend, family member or community.

Digital Wellbeing & Social Media Safety

Protecting yourself and your family from harmful content online, reporting tools, platform safety, and healthy social media habits.

Memorial & Legacy

Respectful, awareness-focused pieces about how remembrance can turn into action, support and community.

Prevention & Community Resources

How to talk to someone who is struggling, warning signs, peer support, workplace and school programs, and crisis resources.

Please browse our latest articles before you submit. We especially value pieces that answer a reader’s question clearly, or that add new, well-sourced information to a topic we have already covered. If you have another relevant idea, you are welcome to pitch it.

Guest Post Guidelines

To help us review your article quickly, please follow these guidelines:

Relevant to our niche

The content must fit our topics and be useful to our readers.

Informative, with real value

The article should help the reader understand something or take a practical next step.

Original content

Send your own work, not published anywhere else, in whole or in part.

Reliable sources

Support statistics, research findings and medical or factual claims with credible sources such as NIMH, CDC, the VA, WHO or peer-reviewed studies.

Minimum length

Articles should be at least 800 words. In-depth guides usually work best at 1,200+ words.

Clear writing

Use a logical structure, descriptive headings and short paragraphs. Write in plain language.

If you include images, you must have permission to use them and tell us how to credit them. Please do not send photos of real people in distress or of any person without their consent.

Safe messaging comes first. Because of the subject of this site, every article must follow safe messaging practices such as those described at Reporting on Suicide. In practice, this means:

  • No details about suicide methods, locations or notes, and no graphic descriptions of any kind.
  • No links to, descriptions of or references to graphic footage, including the video associated with Ronnie McNutt’s death.
  • No sensational or glamorizing language. Say “died by suicide”, not “committed suicide”.
  • Emphasize hope, recovery, coping strategies and where to get help. Include relevant crisis resources where appropriate.
  • Personal stories must focus on getting through hard times and finding support, not on the details of a crisis.

All submissions are reviewed before publication. We may suggest changes or edit accepted articles for clarity, accuracy, sensitivity and readability. Submitting an article does not guarantee that it will be published. We typically reply within 5 business days.

Links and Placement

All accepted articles are published on the following terms:

Dofollow links

Links in the article are dofollow backlinks.

No sponsored tag

The article and its links are not marked as sponsored.

Permanent placement

The article stays permanently on RonnieMcNutt.com.

1 link to your website

One link to your website, organization or client, placed naturally in the text and clearly relevant to the topic, not in a promotional way.

2 authority links

Two links to authoritative sources, or one internal link to RonnieMcNutt.com and one authority link.

If you represent a company, an agency or a client as part of a link-building effort, please say so in your email. We will get back to you with the details and conditions that apply to your article.

What We Do Not Publish

  • Content written to place a link rather than to be read.
  • Articles that have been published, in whole or in part, elsewhere.
  • Content that includes suicide methods, graphic detail, sensationalism or references to graphic footage.
  • Medical claims that cannot be documented, including “cures”, miracle treatments and guaranteed results.
  • Content that discourages readers from seeking professional help or from taking prescribed treatment.
  • Promotion of specific supplements, medications, apps or paid services, or undisclosed affiliate content.
  • Purely AI-generated text that has not been fact-checked by a human.

Editorial Control and Unpublishing

Publication is not guaranteed. Receiving a proposal or an article does not imply any promise to publish it. Our editors assess each article and each link individually. We may unpublish or correct material later if any information turns out to be wrong, misleading, harmful, or in conflict with these guidelines or applicable law.

Commercial Contributions

If a contribution is sponsored, commissioned by a third party or compensated in any other way, whether in money, goods or services, you must state this in your first email. Such material is published only when it is genuinely relevant and helpful to our readers, and on terms we agree in writing. Undisclosed commercial content is not published and, if discovered later, will be removed.

Rights

You keep the copyright to your text. By submitting it, you give RonnieMcNutt.com a non-exclusive, unlimited-in-time right to publish the article on ronniemcnutt.com, to edit it for language, structure and sensitivity, and to use excerpts in our own channels. You confirm that you hold the rights to the text and any images, and that the content does not infringe the rights of any third party. If you later want to publish the text somewhere else, please contact us and we will find a solution.

Liability
