Veteran-Specific Resources
- VA Mental Health Services: The Department of Veterans Affairs provides free mental health care to eligible veterans. Visit va.gov/health-care/health-needs-conditions/mental-health/
- Vet Center Program: Community-based counseling centers for veterans, service members, and their families. Find one at va.gov/find-locations/
- Give an Hour: Free mental health care provided by volunteer licensed mental health professionals for military and veteran communities.
- Mission 22: Veteran mental health treatment programs and peer support networks across the United States.

PTSD Resources
- National Center for PTSD: Research, education, and resources on PTSD from the VA. ptsd.va.gov
- PTSD Coach App: A free mobile app developed by the VA to help manage PTSD symptoms.
- EMDR Therapy: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an evidence-based therapy for PTSD. Find a certified therapist at emdria.org
For Family and Friends
Supporting a loved one with PTSD or suicidal ideation can be overwhelming. You don’t have to navigate it alone:
- NAMI Family Support Group: Free peer-led support groups for family members. nami.org
- Al-Anon / Nar-Anon: If substance use is also a factor, these groups offer support for families.
- Caregiver Action Network: Resources for those caring for veterans and loved ones with mental illness.
